Behind every door is a story. Our story started a few years ago when moving to Lewes and walking around the twittens, side streets and High Streets, we stumbled upon so many interesting creative businesses. Nestled side by side in just one street were violin makers, artists, rug makers, photographers, vinyl records, theatrical costume makers – to name a few. I was told by one person “I’ve been here 22 years and I get all my business through word of mouth”. A fascinating conversation followed about music in Lewes, churches, history and so much more.
How many of us have seen a poster advertising something that we’d love to have gone to but didn’t know about and had missed the date. How many of you know what is going on behind the small shop fronts? What a surprise it has been to find out how much is going on in a shop or gallery but also online, with businesses quietly doing what they do best.
Lewes is bustling with creativity – galleries, independent shops, cafes, music, societies, festivals, clubs, film and book groups but for those of us who are lucky enough to have moved to Lewes in recent years or those visiting the area, it’s easy to miss some of the hidden gems.
As a result, Lewes Hub was born with the intention of (what a writer on our group suggested) making a hubbub! It is a free resource (a retirement project for some) and we hope you will join us.
Lewesians Unwrapped
We will be writing regular posts, reviews and interviews with Lewesians. We’d like to find out more about you and would love you to join us and form an exciting online creative network. We’d particularly like to promote your business, exhibitions, artwork, photographs, publicise your events and create a hub that is fun and informative. We’d also like to build our team so if you are interested in finding out more about people, events and creative activities, do please come and join us.

We see ourselves as complementing partner sites such as the amazing Lewes List, which is a monthly email packed full of events and information about Lewes.
