Community & Environment

Lewes has a strong sense of community and heritage. It was once home of revolutionary thinker Thomas Paine before he travelled to America sparking the revolution. Lewes has been described as “a place known widely for its spirit of dissent and debate”. There are many community groups and societies which reflect the diverse range of interests and passions.

We have listed below some clubs and societies, but you are welcome to tell us about others. Email leweshub@gmail.com
