A taste of France

Cafe Du Jardin is a true hidden gem with a great Mother’s Day menu

We are a bit worried about sharing news about one of our favourite cafes in Lewes in case it gets too busy. It’s one of the gems that locals know about, approached via a small passageway next to Pastorale Antiques. On a sunny day sitting in the delightful courtyard of the once Old Coaching Inn feels like you might have been transported to a bistro in France.

The courtyard Cafe has the biggest garden seating area in Lewes and there is also a large seating area down in our cosy wine cellar. They describe their home cooked food as “in keeping with this decorative French look, we serve rustic French and continental food with an English twist to suit British Tastes. The décor, food, soft drinks and wine all have a personal touch”.

They have recently started offering fantastic roasts on Sunday with a vegetarian option on offer. Their selection of cakes change regularly but we definitely recommend that you go for the lemon meringue pie if it’s on offer!
